Thor!!!

It looks like there's concept pictures of Thor's costume too!

The design is pretty good but it feels lacking to me. He just doesn't look like an immortal thunder god. Maybe it's the pants.

Thor will be played by Chris Hemsworth and the movie will be directed by Kenneth Branagh.

Thor is planned to be released May 6, 2011.

Spoilers: Video of Secret Iron Man 2 Ending

It's been leaked. Someone posted a special ending after the credits of Iron Man 2 on youtube. the video has since disappeared but I'm sure some websites still have it up.

After the credits conclude, we see a black car pushing up dirt as it zooms through the desert. We are even given a close-up of the New Mexico license plate of the car so that we know it is New Mexico. The license plate reads 8RE 2Z1. I’m not sure if there is an inside joke or easter egg in those numbers and letters. Probably not.
A man exists the vehicle, and it cuts to a wide show of a huge crater in the earth.
We see that the man is… not Tony Stark — but Agent Coulson.
He looks down at the inside of the big hole, which has been revealed to contain cars and workers working on something.
Coulson picks up his cellphone and tells the person on the other end “Sir, we’ve found it.”
Cut to a shot from inside the giant crater, and we push back to reveal the hammer of Thor sticking out of the ground.

Sweet. A Thor tease. But remember how X-Men Origins: Wolverine had many different secret endings? There might be multiple ones for this movie also.

New Movie Posters

Just some teaser posters of the 4 Avenger movies Marvel has planned for us.

What's new:
It’s a “safe bet” that Steve Roger’s sidekick Bucky is going to show up in The First Avenger: Captain America.

Scarlett Johansson's character in Iron Man 2 has “two sides,” entering the picture as an assistant to Tony Stark, but later revealed as Black Widow. Johnansson is signed up for multiple films.

Marvel is planning on announcing another new movie for 2012 within the next few months. (Ant-Man, Nick Fury Movie, Iron Man 3, Hulk 2...just my guesses)

We Have Our Loki

Marvel Studios has announced that Tom Hiddleston has been cast to play Loki in the movie Thor. Loki is basically the main supervillian in Thor's universe.

Looks Like We've Found Our Thor

Chris Hemsworth has been cast as Marvel's Thor and will also be playing Thor in The Avengers movie. Hemsworth is currently most well known for his roll as George Kirk in the currently popular Star Trek movie this Summer.

The movie has been described as:

“like a superhero origin story, but not one about a human gaining super powers, but of a god realizing his true potential. It’s the story of an Old Testament god who becomes a New Testament god”.

The movie is planned on being released on June 17th 2011.

Oh Goody. News From a Spy.

Apparently a "spy" has told AICN about some insider information. Some of which are pretty cool. Here's what the spy said:

-Avengers is delayed a year because of financing issues but also because the plan is for Favreau to helm it. Everybody here loves the guy and he wants to do it, but it would have been impossible for him to do before the date change given his Iron Man 2 commitments. Also partly the reason why he agreed to do the Stark sequel on such an accelerated schedule was so he could get given first dibs on this. It would still be a punishing schedule for him, so hes not firmly confirmed yet, but he is certainly the presumptive director at this point.

- Iron Man starts rehearsals in a few days, which is why the casting is finally coming together so quickly.

-Alexander Skargard is indeed Branagh’s favorite to play Thor as some sites are reporting. If all goes well and it happens then we hope to get Stellan Skarsgard for Odin (though at present Odin is only a very small cameo part in this movie).

-Loki will probably be played by Hartnett, if his pay negotiations work out. All the commentary about him wanting to do a Ledger and play a villain is B.S. though – WE APPROACHED HARTNETT because Branagh’s a big fan of the Othello adaptation O where Hartnett played Iago who is very similar character wise to how he sees Loki.

- Fox is serious about doing remakes of Daredvil and FF. They have to make new movies with these characters every few years because otherwise the options will revert to us. This point is kinda obvious but Im not sure people realise it –I havent seen anybody pointing it out anywhere. The mood around here is pretty negative about Rothman’s potential to execute these properties properly, (Im sure you know why it might be particularly negative at the moment) but we are all hoping his recent promotion will mean hes kept away from direct control of these movies.

Call me Fuzzy Dunlop

This does give us a lot of information to ponder about. It all makes sense, but we'll have to take it as rumors for now. Very cool though. I hope Mr. Dunlop keeps it up.

Marvel Movies Get New Release Dates

Marvel Studios just announced some new release dates for their movies. Probably since they seem to be running behind schedule. But here are the new dates:

Iron Man 2: Unchanged with May 7, 2010

Captain America: Moved from May 6, 2011 to July 22, 2011

Thor: Moved from July 16, 2010 to June 17, 2011

The Avengers: Moved from July 15, 2011 to May 4, 2012

They are also planning on releasing Spider-Man 4 on May 6, 2011. Many many movies for 2011.

Casting for Thor

Coming Attractions has gotten a casting notice for Thor. This is what they're looking for:

Male MUST BE MID-LATE 20'S and SIX FEET OR TALLER. LEAD.

Physically powerful, very handsome, occasionally egotistical, petulant, and wild. A natural warrior with a quick charming wit who must be genuinely and severely humbled before becoming the compassionate, mature hero of our film.

A lot of people are kind worried about having a 25 year old actor playing Thor. You'd expect a god to be in their mid 30s. And also playing along side Robert Downey Jr. and Edward Norton in the eventual Avengers movie, a young Thor might seem a little out of place.

Marvel Super Hero Squad

A new Marvel animated series is coming to Cartoon Network. Marvel Super Hero Squad will debuts in late 2009 with 26 episodes. From what I know it will feature the heroes: Captain America, Iron Man, Wolverine, Silver Surfer, Hulk, Thor, and Falcon.

Description from Marvel:
"Shouting "Hero Up!" as they rush into battle, the Squad must keep Dr. Doom's allies from gathering pieces of the Infinity Sword. Otherwise, Doom will use the Sword to rule the universe! Luckily, the City is filled with Marvel Super Hero guest-stars to help out in a pinch. These brave heroes totally deliver the action—but with plenty of humor on the side."

The cartoon is kinda like an extension to Marvel's popular Super Hero Squad toys. So this cartoon is basically a very long and potentially entertaining toy commercial. But there will be many talented voice actors so I expect it to be a fun watch for little kiddies and a few of us big kiddies.

Hulk vs. Wolverine was definitely better but it still left me wanting more. But I still hope Marvel will make more animated movies like this.

Thor Movie has a new Character

Donald Blake, Thor's human alter ego, has been added to the end of the script of the movie.

The introduction of the character is essential to how Marvel will tie Thor into the Avengers that is set in contemporary Tony Stark/Hulk timeframe. It explains how the actual Thor film will be set in the ancient time of the Norse Gods and how they will subsequently bring the character into a modern time with Donald Blake discovering the magical Norse hammer Mjolnir and turning into Thor

Thor will be released July 16, 2010.

McKidd Says he Might be Thor

Kevin McKidd (I never heard of him) said that he is a contender to play Thor and that there's been a lot of "back and fourth" with Marvel Studios about the project.

He did confirm though that Kenneth Branagh is the director.

Thor, The Animated Series

A long time ago I mentioned that Marvel was planning on releasing a Black Panther and an Iron Man animated series in 2009. Well, it seems like Marvel Studios is also planning on releasing an animated Thor series.

The Thor animated series will consist of 26 half-hour episodes airing in 2010 after the Thor movie is released in theaters.

The animated series will follow Thor as he defends his mythical home of Asgard against fantastical villains, fiendish hordes, winged creatures and angry giants. The show takes place in various wondrous worlds: from mountainous landscapes to places of icy mists and fiery voids. Thor will be surrounded by many companions on his mission, every one sure to add to the action and adventure of this series.

I'm actually looking forward to this. I don't know much about Thor's background and I'm too lazy to read the comics.

Daniel Craig Turns Down Being a God

Daniel Craig, aka. James Bond, said that Marvel approached him for the role as Thor. Craig declined the role saying that it would be too much of a power trip for him to be James Bond AND Thor. So the search for Thor continues.

Kenneth Branagh is in talks with Marvel to direct Thor. I don't know much about this guy so check out his IMDB.

Schwarzenegger and Marvel Movie Deal

No, Arnold isn't going to be in the next Marvel movie. You can breathe. Actually Jon Favreau and Marvel Studios are supporting California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger to give Hollywood studios tax breaks for making their movies within the state. This would mean that instead of putting millions of movie making dollars into the pockets of foreign governments, all of it will go to California. Favreau says that Marvel is willing to film Iron Man 2, Thor, The First Avenger: Captain America and The Avengers all in Hollywood. That's would be about $600 million spent in California.

That's nice an all but I really don't want to see palm trees, and Rodeo Drive in every Marvel movie. It loses it's epic feel. How is Thor supposed to be a god if he's surrounded my surfer babes and beach volleyball? What made the Incredible Hulk so cool is that it was filmed in multiple locations around the world. I hope Marvel knows what it's doing.

Hulk Vs. DVD Preview

Wow, Marvel Studios has a new DVD coming out called Hulk vs. which includes two seperate stories of Hulk vs. Wolverine and Hulk vs. Thor. Here is Marvel's description of the two episodes.

Stan Lee and Joe Simon Talk About Their Heroes

Nothing incredibly new, but an article on USA Today talks about the upcoming Marvel movies. Zak Penn (X2: X-Men United, Elektra, X-Men: The Last Stand, The Incredible Hulk) is currently working on a screenplay for The Avengers.

Stan Lee, 85, creator of the Hulk, Iron Man, Thor, Ant-Man and Nick Fury, and Joe Simon, 94, creator of Captain America, (boy these guys are old) talks about the origins of the next few heroes to make it to the big screen. Here's what they said.

Origin: Disabled medical student Donald Blake discovers a mighty hammer that transforms him into his alter ego, the Norse warrior Thor. Lee recalls meeting years ago with Fabio, the romance-novel cover boy, about playing the part. "Someone brought him up to my office to see if he could play Thor," Lee says. "Visually, he would have been good, but in those days we weren't even in a position to do a movie." Lee says Thor "will have to be someone big and strong and kind of blondish. And there should be a nobility."

Origin: Biochemist Hank Pym can alter his size as well as communicate with and control insects. Ant-Man creator Stan Lee recently had lunch with Wright to discuss the direction of the film. "There's never been a hero like this in the movies," Lee says. "I did one comic book called The Man in the Ant Hill about a guy who shrunk down and there were ants or bees chasing him. That sold so well that I thought making him into a superhero might be fun."

Origin: Captain America made his debut in 1941 as lowly U.S. Army Pvt. Steve Rogers. "We had him peeling spuds," creator Joe Simon recalls. "The government shot him up with a super-serum, which made him the first of what was to be an army of superheroes." Simon and comic-book artist Jack Kirby, who died in 1994, created the character during World War II as an all-American adversary to Adolf Hitler. "We were a war-consumed nation, just like today," he says. "Hitler was a comic foil for our character, and every comic sold out that first year." Simon now suggests that Osama bin Laden might be an appropriate foe for Captain America to pursue. But Captain America more likely will take on his most famous adversary, the Red Skull — a Nazi (later turned Communist) introduced by Simon in Captain America Comics #1.

Nick Fury
Release date: Not intended as a solo film, but character will appear in The Avengers universe in summer 2011
Origin: Lee introduced the character in 1963 in the war magazine Sgt. Fury and His Howling Commandos. "It did very well," Lee says. "But after a couple of years, I got bored with it and wanted to kill it. Years later, I got a lot of fan mail asking, 'What happened to Sgt. Fury?' In those days, there was a popular show called The Man From U.N.C.L.E., so I brought Nick back as a colonel for S.H.I.E.L.D.: Supreme Headquarters, International Espionage, Law-Enforcement Division."

Favreau Probably Will Direct Iron Man 2

Some big new today. During a recent interview at the Hellboy premiere, Favreau mentions that him and Marvel Studios are now "actively" talking about Iron Man 2. That probably means that he's going to be signed as the director. Maybe all the internet outcry has helped set Marvel's mind straight.

Favreau also talks about some of the other Avenger movies coming out and that he has not heard of having Thor as a cameo in the next Iron Man movie.
