Marvel Super Hero Squad

A new Marvel animated series is coming to Cartoon Network. Marvel Super Hero Squad will debuts in late 2009 with 26 episodes. From what I know it will feature the heroes: Captain America, Iron Man, Wolverine, Silver Surfer, Hulk, Thor, and Falcon.

Description from Marvel:
"Shouting "Hero Up!" as they rush into battle, the Squad must keep Dr. Doom's allies from gathering pieces of the Infinity Sword. Otherwise, Doom will use the Sword to rule the universe! Luckily, the City is filled with Marvel Super Hero guest-stars to help out in a pinch. These brave heroes totally deliver the action—but with plenty of humor on the side."

The cartoon is kinda like an extension to Marvel's popular Super Hero Squad toys. So this cartoon is basically a very long and potentially entertaining toy commercial. But there will be many talented voice actors so I expect it to be a fun watch for little kiddies and a few of us big kiddies.

Hulk vs. Wolverine was definitely better but it still left me wanting more. But I still hope Marvel will make more animated movies like this.

Captain America Sighting in the Hulk!

It was previously stated that Captain America was going to appear in the movie, but then we later heard that the scene was cut. But the people from FilmSchoolRejects got their hands on the deleted scenes from the upcoming The Incredible Hulk DVD and they went through it frame by frame to find any sign of Captain America. This picture is what they got. (click on the picture for a larger image)

Though it doesn't look very obvious, it does appear to look like Captain America. How he got there, no one knows but being frozen in ice IS the reason why he will be able to appear in modern times with the Avengers even though his movie will take place during WWII.

But I remember that the Hulk was supposed to talk to Captain America in this scene. And the Captain was supposed to convince the Hulk to not commit suicide. But it doesn't look like that Captain is doing much talking in this picture. We'll have to wait the the DVD is released in October 21st to see for ourselves.

Marvel Releases Movie Tie-in Comics

Marvel is releasing some digital comic that supposedly show some more insight into the movies Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk. Like what happened right after Iron Man defeated Iron Monger or Nick Fury's first conversation with the Hulk. You have to be a member of "Marvel Digital Comics Unlimited" in order to view these comics, so it'll cost money. For more info or to sign up, check it out here.

Edward Norton Has No Idea

Edward Norton says Marvel Studios isn’t giving him any indication that they want him to reprise his role as the Incredible Hulk either in a Hulk Sequel or in the Avengers movie.

If Marvel is going to replace Norton with another actor for the Avengers movie, I'm going to be very disappointed because they are probably just being cheap.

The Hulk's Lame DVD Cover

Here's the supposed dvd cover for the Incredible Hulk. It is for the 3-Disc Special Edition. What's on the third disc? Probably that extra 70 minutes of the movie that they cut out. The cover looks so much like a video game cover. I would have liked something less...cheesy. No official release date but I assume that it'll be in October.

The Avengers Villain: The Incredible Hulk?

So over at the MTV Movie Blog, Louis Leterrier, director of The Incredible Hulk, has suggested the possibility of having the Hulk as the main antagonist in the 2011's The Avengers. It is said that in the comics, the whole reason the Avengers got together in the first place was because of the Hulk going bananas so it would fit. Leterrier said he made the last shot of Edward Norton smiling in The Incredible Hulk to be ambiguous. Is he smiling because he's in control or has he lost and and has turned evil. Well, according to Leterrier, the decision is up to us fans.

“I would listen to the fans before I listen to the box office. They are the reason why these movies successful.”

Personally, I find that it would be awesome to have the Hulk tearing apart other heroes in a huge battle but I don't think it would fit. The Hulk calms down so easily when he sees Betty Ross, and casual fans don't want to see the gentle green giant turn evil. I guess it may work if the Hulk was brainwashed to be evil by an even larger villain. Loki for example.

Hulk Vs. DVD Preview

Wow, Marvel Studios has a new DVD coming out called Hulk vs. which includes two seperate stories of Hulk vs. Wolverine and Hulk vs. Thor. Here is Marvel's description of the two episodes.

HULK VS THOR - It's gods versus monsters in this epic 45 minute movie! Never have we explored the explosive power of the Hulk like we have in this new film, every major character from the Marvel Thor universe is thrust into battle with this Green Goliath as he brings a new Ragnarok down upon the realm of gods.

Where the Heck is that Captain America Video?

In a previous post I talked about how Captain America makes an appearence in The Incredible Hulk, but the scene ended up being cut. That's sad, but the director mentioned that the cut scene will be posted on the internet. "At some point this week, we will make it available on the internet." That was 2 weeks ago! Where is that video? I was looking forward to seeing what actor ended up portraying that Capt. Dang it. I quess that I'll have to wait a few months until the DVD is released. If they're not posting the scene, I'll just post this one from the first Marvel Avengers cartoon movie. It shows the Hulk beating that crap out of our favorite heroes and the Thor looking...like Bad A$$ Thor.

Tony Stark's Scene in the Incredible Hulk

So here's the last scene in The Incredible Hulk where Tony Stark apporaches drunk and bummed out General. This just didn't give me that same feeling of awesomeness as the scene with Nick Fury, but I guess that's because there's no Sam Jackson in this one. Here's the primary dialogue.

Tony: "What if I told you we are putting a team together?"
General: "Who's we?"

Captain America's Super Serum?

It’s been a slow news weekend as far as Marvel movie news. Now that the Hulk hype has died down, the next two Marvel Studios movies are Punisher: War Zone (Dec. 5, 2008)and X-Men Origins: Wolverine (May 1, 2009). As far as I know, the characters in these movies are completely separate franchises and won’t have any connection to the Avenger Initiative or the Avengers movie.

Though I don’t expect any Iron Man cameos, but there may be some little Easter eggs lying around in the background of these movies; kind of like Captain America’s Shield in Iron Man. This claim is totally based on what I saw in the trailer for Punisher: War Zone so it’s just speculation. If it’s not true, please don’t hurt me.

Above is a screen shot from the Incredible Hulk featuring the blue super-soldier serum(the stuff that made Captain America). Below that are some similar blue canisters in a case from the Punisher: War Zone trailer. Are they the same? Is it just a coincidence? Is Marvel just reusing its props?

Hulk Statues for Sale on Ebay

Marvel is selling their promotional Hulk statues on ebay. Here's the description:

Starting bid is $3,100 and your responsible of picking it up yourself. I'm not sure who exactly would buy this, or would let their husband buy it, but I guess this would be a good replacement for that creepy lawn gnome that disappears and then reappears all the time.

The Incredible Hulk Weekend Box Office/Punisher Trailer

The Incredible Hulk made $54.5 million last weekend. It's not too shabby movie wise, but it's nothing compared to Iron Man's opening weekend gross of about $100.7 million. Maybe it's because Iron Man was the better movie or maybe people didn't like the first Hulk film so they decided to skip this one. Who knows, but it seems that Marvel Studios are now 2 for 2. We'll just have to see if their next movie, Punisher: War Zone (Dec 8, 2008) will be a hit even with it's 'R' rating. Below is the newly released trailer.

Spiderman, Iron Man, and the Hulk

Just a pretty sweet animation of the three superheroes. I'm pretty sure that Marvel produced this themselves, but I'm not sure why. It's not for a video game. Maybe it's just to add some hype around the idea of Marvel Superheroes teaming up. After seeing this short, it makes me wonder if Marvel plans on making a CGI movie...you know, for the kids...and me. Wait, Who Plays Captain America in the Hulk?

If Marvel still hasn't officially casted Captain America for The First Avenger movie, then who plays Captain America in the scene from the Hulk? We know that the scene where the Hulk meets Captain America has been cut from the final edit, but who portrayed him. Or was he just a figure hidden in the shadows of a cave? If we see a different actor in The Incredible Hulk than in The First Avenger, then that ruins continuity. Just a thought.
