New Punisher: War Zone Posters

Because Avenger related news hasn't sizzled anything new, here's some news on another Marvel related movie. Two Punisher: War Zone posters have been spotted and they look really...plain and boring. A close up on a gun is always cool but the lack of color or explosions just make me disinterested. I have a feeling that this movie is going to be like Hitman, or The Transporter. Not nearly as good as Iron Man or the Incredible Hulk. But we'll just have to wait till December 5th and see. I don't know. It might just be the next Hard Boiled movie. ... Probably not.

Where the Heck is that Captain America Video?

In a previous post I talked about how Captain America makes an appearence in The Incredible Hulk, but the scene ended up being cut. That's sad, but the director mentioned that the cut scene will be posted on the internet. "At some point this week, we will make it available on the internet." That was 2 weeks ago! Where is that video? I was looking forward to seeing what actor ended up portraying that Capt. Dang it. I quess that I'll have to wait a few months until the DVD is released. If they're not posting the scene, I'll just post this one from the first Marvel Avengers cartoon movie. It shows the Hulk beating that crap out of our favorite heroes and the Thor looking...like Bad A$$ Thor.

Next Avengers: Heroes of Tomorrow Trailer

This is the newest cartoon with Marvel's name attached is releasing on DVD. Here's the catch line:

"Earth's mightiest heroes are gone, humanity has been all but wiped out and Ultron has won. Can a new generation of heroes—with some assistance from a few veterans—turn the tide?"

This actually seems pretty interesting. Though it's rated PG, I'll probably check it out. The DVD releases Sept 2nd.

Tony Stark's Scene in the Incredible Hulk

So here's the last scene in The Incredible Hulk where Tony Stark apporaches drunk and bummed out General. This just didn't give me that same feeling of awesomeness as the scene with Nick Fury, but I guess that's because there's no Sam Jackson in this one. Here's the primary dialogue.

Tony: "What if I told you we are putting a team together?"
General: "Who's we?"

A video is attached. I'll put up a better quality version once I find one.

Captain America's Super Serum?

It’s been a slow news weekend as far as Marvel movie news. Now that the Hulk hype has died down, the next two Marvel Studios movies are Punisher: War Zone (Dec. 5, 2008)and X-Men Origins: Wolverine (May 1, 2009). As far as I know, the characters in these movies are completely separate franchises and won’t have any connection to the Avenger Initiative or the Avengers movie.

Though I don’t expect any Iron Man cameos, but there may be some little Easter eggs lying around in the background of these movies; kind of like Captain America’s Shield in Iron Man. This claim is totally based on what I saw in the trailer for Punisher: War Zone so it’s just speculation. If it’s not true, please don’t hurt me.

Above is a screen shot from the Incredible Hulk featuring the blue super-soldier serum(the stuff that made Captain America). Below that are some similar blue canisters in a case from the Punisher: War Zone trailer. Are they the same? Is it just a coincidence? Is Marvel just reusing its props?

Spiderman 4 in May 2011

We all thought it ended with the third Spiderman movie. Many hated it, but I actually thought it was ok. I accepted the end, but just like the X-men trilogy, I wanted to see more. Wait a second...Yay! They have announced Spiderman 4! Spider-Man producer Laura Ziskin said the fourth installment of Spiderdude will appear in May 2011. Screenwriter James Vanderbilt (The Rundown, Zodiac) is currently working on a screenplay. Now director or actors have been contracted but Tobey Maguire said he'd be interested in working on another film if Director Sam Raimi is also involved.

So it turns out that there will be three Marvel Studios movies in 2011. Spiderman 4 in May, Captain America May 6th, and The Avengers in July. That would be a huge summer for superheroes, not to mention and DC movies that may be released also.

Feige on the Avengers Movie

In a recent interview by IGN Movies, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige talked a lot of his thoughts on the 2011 live action Avengers movie. Feige says,

"Our instincts are definitely leading us towards some specific directions for it. It will be a challenge. But I think what we've done in the past, and particularly my experience on the X-Men films where we balanced, you know, X-Men 2 had half a dozen villains and more than a half a dozen heroes. And Avengers won't have that many characters in it,"

"I think that it's safe to assume that the world will be populated by characters that the fans of the comics will recognize beyond the solo movies that have come out, but at the same time I want to be very, very cautious of overdoing it and very, very careful not to just cram in. I don't want it to be a movie where every five minutes a character walks by and people smile at the cameo. I really want it to be an ensemble adventure that stands on its own."

So there will be more characters than the ones with their own feature movie. Like Ant-Man, and Wasp. I wouldn't want to watch 2 hours of the origin of the Wasp but I wouldn't mind having her appear in the Avengers. Good choice by Marvel.

Hulk Statues for Sale on Ebay

Marvel is selling their promotional Hulk statues on ebay. Here's the description:

"You are being given the unique opportunity to bid on this genuine Life-Sized Incredible Hulk Statue, produced for the Marketing and Promotion of the 2008 MARVEL STUDIOS film The Incredible Hulk - starring Edward Norton, Liv Tyler, Tim Roth and William Hurt. There are a total of 200 pieces available - you are biding on 1 piece. Each Life-Sized Incredible Hulk Statue is 8’6” tall with a base 6’5” x 6’5” wide and weighs approximately 150 pounds."

Starting bid is $3,100 and your responsible of picking it up yourself. I'm not sure who exactly would buy this, or would let their husband buy it, but I guess this would be a good replacement for that creepy lawn gnome that disappears and then reappears all the time.

The Incredible Hulk Weekend Box Office/Punisher Trailer

The Incredible Hulk made $54.5 million last weekend. It's not too shabby movie wise, but it's nothing compared to Iron Man's opening weekend gross of about $100.7 million. Maybe it's because Iron Man was the better movie or maybe people didn't like the first Hulk film so they decided to skip this one. Who knows, but it seems that Marvel Studios are now 2 for 2. We'll just have to see if their next movie, Punisher: War Zone (Dec 8, 2008) will be a hit even with it's 'R' rating. Below is the newly released trailer.

Spiderman, Iron Man, and the Hulk

Just a pretty sweet animation of the three superheroes. I'm pretty sure that Marvel produced this themselves, but I'm not sure why. It's not for a video game. Maybe it's just to add some hype around the idea of Marvel Superheroes teaming up. After seeing this short, it makes me wonder if Marvel plans on making a CGI movie...you know, for the kids...and me. Wait, Who Plays Captain America in the Hulk?

If Marvel still hasn't officially casted Captain America for The First Avenger movie, then who plays Captain America in the scene from the Hulk? We know that the scene where the Hulk meets Captain America has been cut from the final edit, but who portrayed him. Or was he just a figure hidden in the shadows of a cave? If we see a different actor in The Incredible Hulk than in The First Avenger, then that ruins continuity. Just a thought.

Leo DiCaprio or Brad Pitt for Captain America

Just a rumor going around, but Marvel might have their sights set on Leo or Brad to play the role of the Nazi fighting superhero Captain America. No offers have been made yet. They probably want to have a script and a director picked out before they approach anyone. It seems like Marvel really wants big names and good actors in their movies. Which is fine by me, but once filming begins of star packed movie, The Avengers, who will be the star?

Edward Norton vs. Marvel

It's been known that Edward Norton has been having some issues with the final cut of The Incredible Hulk. Here's the gist. Edward Norton was approached for the role of the Hulk but he turned it down. But Marvel insisted that Norton meet with the director and see the script. Norton made a deal with Marvel saying the he'll do the part if he can have some creative control over the film. Norton wrote some scenes that built on his character and was mostly dialog. Things were fine until the editing of the movie basically cut out most of Norton's stuff. Norton was angry and it can be said that the final cut of the film was not up to Norton's standards.

Apparently about 70 minutes were cut out of the movie, but the good news is that Marvel plans on adding the extra scenes onto the Bluray and DVD releases. Then we can decide whether it was a good, or bad, thing cutting Edward Norton's stuff. For more info on the tussle, go here.

Hulk Trailer Comparison

Just for fun and in the spirit of this weekend being Hulk weekend...and Father's Day weekend, I've decided to put up the trailer for The Incredible Hulk as well as 2003's Hulk. No, I haven't watched the new Hulk movie yet. I'm workin' on it.

Ok, now that they have the logos down. Maybe they should start working on the scripts.

Captain America Cut from Hulk Movie

In a previous post I mentioned that Captain America might appear in the Hulk movie. He does! But the thing is, the scene has been cut. Hulk director Louis Leterrier said in an interview,

“There’s a point when Bruce Banner gives up on his quest for the cure and decide to kill himself. So he travels far North and reaches the Arctic Circle. You might have seen bits of it in some of the promos. The result was a very dark and strong scene, which Marvel, me and everyone else’s considered to be too hard to young audiences to take, so we’ve cut it. Having that said, when Bruce arrives at his destination he meets up with Captain America! At some point this week, we will make it available on the internet – but I cannot tell you where or when – and the material will definitely be on the DVD.”

So Marvel is protecting little kids from depression. Dang it. Kids ruin everything. But a high point is that the scene will be released on the internet and we won't have to wait till the DVD comes out.

Hulk Movie Props on Ebay

Now that the movie is finished, Marvel has a few items listed on ebay starting at $499. Even though we could proably get the same items at the Gap for $25, it just wouldn't be the same thing as wearing Liv Tyler's blouse. Not that I would...I'll just end it right there. Hopefully more/cooler props come out, like Hulk's amazing stretchy pants.

Jon Favreau Not Directing Iron Man 2?

Favreau was hired to direct Iron Man very cheaply because, Favreau, at the time hasn't really made any awesome movies. But now that Iron Man is such a huge success, Favreau wants to get paid a little more money to direct Iron Man 2. That seems reasonable but Marvel Studios President, David Maisel is reluctant. He feels that the movie will be a success no matter who directs it. This is disappointing.More at IESB.

Some More Release Dates

Just some release dates of Marvel superhero movies. They may or may not all be connected to the Avenger Initiative though I do hope Wolverine is. That would be sick.

* Punisher: War Zone (Lionsgate)- December 5, 2008
* X-Men Origins: Wolverine (Fox)- May 1, 2009
* Iron Man 2 - April 30, 2010
* Thor - June 4, 2010
* The First Avenger: Captain America - May 6, 2011
* The Avengers - July 2011
* Spider-Man 4 - Still in development
* Ant-Man - Writer/Director engaged

Iron Man 2 to Introduce Thor?

It was said that the next Iron Man movie will introduce Thor. Probably after the credits as usual, but it makes sense since the Thor movie is supposed to release about a month later.

Captain America Might Appear in the Hulk Movie

On G4TV they recently interviewed Hulk director Louis Leterrier. He said:

“As a filmmaker and as a fan, I like to go see movies and watch them several times, … and every time I see it, discover little things in the background. Did you know that in Iron Man, Captain America’s shield can be found somewhere? Well in Hulk you might see Captain America Himself!”

So it actually was Captain America's shield in Iron Man and not just a trick. With the origins of Captain America and the Hulk are kinda connected, I would almost guarantee that Capt. will appear somewhere. On a computer screen or poster in the background or something.

Favreau on Iron Man 2 Release Date

Jon Favreau recently shared his thoughts on how the Iron Man 2 release date is unrealistic. This is what he said.

"I am concerned, however, about the announced release date of April 2010. Neither Robert nor I were consulted about this and we are both concerned about how realistic the date is in light of the fact that we have no script, story or even writers hired yet. This genre of movie is best when it is done thoughtfully and with plenty of preparation. It might be better to follow the BB/DK, X/X2 three year release pattern than to scramble for a date. It is difficult because there are no Marvel 09 releases and they need product, but I also think we owe it to the fans to have a great version of IM2 and, at this point, we would have less time to make it than the first one.”

With no script in the works, a push back of Iron Man 2 might cause all the other movies Marvel has in the works to be pushed back also. Let's hope things work out...soon. More of Favreau's thoughts at MySpace.

Hulk TV Spot Includes Tony Stark Cameo

Tony Stark makes an appearance in one of the TV spots. Seeing him just puts a smile on my face...but I'm not gay...not like there's anything wrong with that.

Release Dates for Four Marvel Movies.

Over at /film Marvel Studios has released the dates of their next movies all the way to 2011.
Here's what they have:

2010
April 30th: Iron Man 2
June 4th: Thor

2011
May 6th: The First Avenger: Captain America
July: The Avengers

Ant-Man is still in the planning stages. Umm maybe they should just let Ant-Man go.

Captain America's Shield in Iron Man Movie

Best video I could find so sorry in advance. Check it out:

Robert Downey Jr. and IMDB

Robert Downey Jr. is the star of Iron Man and everyone says how great a choice he was to play Tony Stark. To tell you the truth I had no idea who Robert Downey Jr. was. I had to look him up on The Internet Movie Database. Then I saw that he plays Tony Stark in another movie. That movie is The Incredible Hulk(2008).

My thought process, "So Tony Stark will appear in the new Hulk movie. This means Iron Man and the Hulk live in the same universe...What! that never happens in movies. Is this the start of a new beginning? Whoa." And then I peed my pant.

Link to Downey Jr.'s IMDB page here.

First Hint

When the movie Iron Man opened, everyone started talking about the additional scene after the credits and how I have to watch it. So when I watched the movie, I stayed the extra 10 minutes of credits to see this awesome scene.

When I watched it, Samuel L. Jackson appears and a kid trying to be funny yells out, "Morpheus?" What an idiot. Wrong black guy dude.

Basically in the Samuel L. Jackson appears as the character Nick Fury, and wants to inform Tony Stark about the Avenger Initiative. Here's the clip:

The Beginning

This can be considered my first blog ever.

After watching Iron Man and hearing about potential superhero movies crossing universes, I want to record anything and everything that Marvel is up to with it's latest movies. Plus the fact that Iron Man, Hulk, and many other heroes may show up together in the same movies makes me pee my pants with excitement.
